Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference

Recently I attended, with over 14,000 others, Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fl.
The energy level was high with the underlying theme of this event continuing to focus around the ‘mobile first cloud-first’ guiding principle Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella introduced. Nadella talked passionately about the mission to empower every person and every organization to achieve more, while COO Kevin Turner presented an action plan for reinventing business productivity and owning the cloud. Turner discussed the disruption caused in the industry by cloud transformation, advancement in mobility, and how these changes present great opportunity for partners to innovate.

Just late last year, Tagetik released Tagetik 5 focused on four key areas – usability, mobility, velocity, and flexibility.  These areas are essential to increased business productivity in today’s finance organizations where there is an environment of ever-growing complexity and change. The software takes full advantage of Microsoft technology advancements across budgeting, forecasting and planning, consolidation and close, disclosure management and compliance, internal and external reporting and workflow and process management.
For instance, Tagetik’s newly designed Window’s style tile-based interface makes for even easier navigation and includes workflow and self-service dashboarding capabilities processing huge volumes of data quickly.  User can access Tagetik 5 from virtually any mobile device, because of the redesigned HTML5 based interface.  Tagetik combines the power of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Power BI, PowerView and PowerQuery for added ease of use, reporting and analytical capabilities delivering financial intelligence it to the masses. Tagetik also just released its first mobile application that is now available on the Microsoft App Store running on Windows 10.
Case in point Rabobank North America had increasing reporting requirements, both internal and regulatory, needing additional analytical capabilities to improve their planning process.  The finance department couldn’t keep up, so they decided to replace their existing system.  With the Tagetik solution Meghan Maze, CAO, estimates that they will slow the growth of the finance department staffing needs by 50%, reduce the time of their planning process by 35% and shorten the close process by 2 days.
It was also interesting to hear the continued excitement about the advancement around cloud and Azure. As companies decide on the cloud, they can leverage their Tagetik and Microsoft investment, having a choice of deployment options and deploying what is right for them.
As Rabobank experienced, some other CPM solutions may be hard to maintain and on limited support.  If you are questioning whether to stay on older products or migrate to a new solution, on premise or cloud, Tagetik and Microsoft might be the right solution for you.
