Requirements
The Banca Popolare Italiana needed to implement an innovative Corporate Performance Management system to manage in a single solution different processes such as: Financial Planning, Statutory Consolidation and Management Reporting.
Objectives
The project objectives required a single solution that would:
- integrate and certify data from the BPI Group Information System, and convert it into usable information
- guide company decision-making towards value creation for stakeholders (shareholders, the market, customers and employees)
- measure performance in relation to the risk assumed and capital absorbed/allocated
- assess each business unit’s contribution to Group results
- optimize management and operating processes to enhance their consistency and effectiveness in attaining company objectives
- facilitate internal and market communication
Results
Results were achieved in a variety of corporate governance areas. One highly welcome feature at the functional level was the availability of coordinated, systematic Group governance and control, with rapid interpretation of cause-and-effect relationships, the consistency of strategic objectives and action plans, IAS compliance, and higher quality internal and market communication.
In terms of organization, the adoption of Tagetik CPM has allowed the rapid, flexible implementation of simulation and analysis models for the scenarios requested. It has also cut reporting cycle closure times. Thanks to the new solution, information is integrated and reconciled with the general accounts, and certified and delivered rapidly.
On the technology front, transaction systems have been integrated with the planning and control system. Today, BPI has a multi-dimensional, multi-level architecture that employs state-of-the-art technology (multi-platform, workflow, web-based).
All of these results have been achieved swiftly, while enhancing user-friendliness and integration with individual productivity tools.
