Behind the Name
Tagetik is named after the mythical "Libri Tagetici"
Tagetik is named after the mythical "Libri Tagetici" (Tagetic Codex). Roman historians referred to this Codex as the only written source of Etruscan science and knowledge.
Tagetik bases itself on the singular genius of Etruscan inventiveness; an indigenous Italian culture that predates the Roman empire. A culture that invented the potter's wheel and developed the architecture that made the construction of the famed arched bridges possible.
Legend has it that Tagete himself - a young man who one day mysteriously appeared and who embodied superior knowledge and wisdom – enlightened his people through his teachings. This knowledge was later transcribed onto the Codex. The Romans also absorbed this legacy and eventually kept this treasure in the Temple of Apollo where it became part of Europe’s collective memory.
Tagete was both creative and revolutionary. He was a leading light of his era and that is why we have chosen Tagete to be the emblem of our company:
- we share a Tuscan identity and we both feel intimately tied to a land peopled by creative and illustrious humans.
- we share the same freshness in approach and enthusiasm whilst our actions remain firmly grounded in our culture, traditions and know how.
