Case Study: Platinum Underwriters Holdings Ltd
This case study encompasses the movement from a manual spreadsheet driven financial statement close process to an automated environment where significantly less manual intervention is required.
The automation of spreadsheets used in the financial statement close process supports a better control environment over the output of reports, decreases the probability of human error and enhances controls required for Sarbanes-Oxley which are control standards for U.S. public companies.
Financial reports built are adapted to show a rounded presentation used in external
reporting and are adjusted to balance the numbers in each report. The balanced
reports include controls to ensure the consistency of numbers across all reports
prior to inclusion in internal and external reporting.
The reports are used to support all financial reporting requirements of a public
company from the Form 10-Q/Ks (financials submitted to the Securities Exchange
Commission), earnings releases, financial supplements and other reporting requirements.
