Case Study: Grontmij
“Tagetik was a real step change for Grontmij. By merging our statutoryconsolidation and numerous other reporting streams into one system, we can start sharing business-focused financial information with a much bigger audience.” Eelco Spiker - Financial controller, Grontmij N.V.
The objectives
In general, the finance department wanted a highly flexible consolidation and reporting solution that could quickly adapt to the company’s fast-changing organizational structures. It should also be easy to use so they could make emerging changes on their own.
The project team had various requirements ranging from multicurrency support, intercompany matching and adjustment journals to KPI reporting, dashboards and exports to Excel. In addition, it wanted a fully Web-enabled solution with customizable security concepts, for example, by entity and custom business lines.
After a thorough analysis of various vendors, Grontmij chose Tagetik over Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and IBM Cognos Controller. The finance department was impressed with Tagetik’s expertise in complex consolidation scenarios and financial closings. In addition to using the latest technology, the product also has a seamless integration with Microsoft SharePoint, an integral component of Grontmij’s global IT strategy.
Results
With the support of Tagetik Nederland, Grontmij was able to roll out the first phase of the project
– management consulting and reporting – within five months. After a four-day training for the
administrator and a tailored, end-user workshop with real data, the solution was ready to go live
in November 2010.
Since deploying Tagetik, Grontmij has been able to improve the speed and quality of its
consolidation and reporting processes. The company can now flexibly meet all of its reporting
needs – from ad hoc reports and detailed line of business views to consolidated financial statements
– in a single solution. By creating a repository for all financial data, it can also rely on one version of
the truth in its internal and external reports.
In the future, Grontmij plans to optimize data sharing via Microsoft SharePoint Portal as well as
extend the system for budgeting, forecasting, project reporting and cash flow analysis.
